  • ^yes, I had a go at this clean line/flat ramp thing once on a pair of Forma SL. I found hook & flats were crazy steep and brake levers a long way away.

    This. These bars are Forma SLs, and this position is perfect for me.

    Previous bars were ITM Road Race 300s;

    • The reach to the hoods/levers was too far, even on a relatively short 80mm stem.
    • The drop curve was too gentle, the drops felt too far away and too steep for me.
      So I messed around with the cockpit a bit and found that;
    • Moving the levers up the bars towards me rendered the levers inaccessible once on the drops
    • Rotating the bars towards me made the drops even steeper / more uncomfortable
    • Rotating the bars down and moving the levers up did little to improve things.
      That's what made me switch to the Forma SLs.

    Road handlebar design has come really long way in the past ~15 years.

  • That is one sexy LeMond.

    @master: Whats wrong with the wheel?

  • Radial and too much spokes. Radial can be if there is 24 or less spokes, it looks too bling.

  • Mr B, you can get modern compact drop with a 70mm reach to shorten it a lots more compare to what look like a 90mm reach on your current bar.

    Much the same angle as me - back to trad approach flats pointing at rear brake bridge.
    Good bars Forma SL - nice bike too sir

  • Concorde is starting to look like a bike now..

  • Sugino 75's for the KHS Aero... Pretty sure I want to get these polished down... Blue on orange might be a strong look.

    Needs to stay blue for sure.

  • Updated 'road' set up

  • "Fast" wheels on beater, soon it will get boombproof silver FF wheels, silver miches crankset or I will get these sandblasted.

    Speaking to the seller (treasurer of the Yorks. CTT), Jack Briggs wasn't keen on building TT machines, but as a family friend (he went to their wedding) he did it as a favour!

    How much more pedigree can you ask for?

  • ^^ formula face rims aren't very bomb proof. Get b43s if you want them to be pretty indestructible

    I'm quite light and I'm getting them slightly used, will check them out, see how I like them compared to box-section.

  • Just get touring rims. Lighter, stronger and wider.

  • Just get touring rims. Lighter, stronger and wider.

    I had light wheels with 29er rims, 0n-one hubs, sub 1.9kg set.
    I'm not after something light on beater currently, I just want to put Gators on them and ride without worry. When winter comes I will put trick forks, smart sams and spinnier ratio and enjoy winter in Latvia.

    this, i got a touring rim on the rear atm and it's taking a beating

  • was working on this at wet weekend

    I intended to build a set of wheels, but I'm hoping I may have won a used set which would cost less than the spokes for two wheels if I built.

  • also, was originally thinking of black bar ribbon, which would require blacklever hoods, toying with white

  • a) black tape and white hoods is a strong look;
    b) I've got some new, black hoods if you need them.

  • you truly are a benevolent character, thanks, I may take you up on that

  • It's just I've led a terrible life and am increasingly worried that I'm about to kark it, so I'm trying to restore the balance.

    karma/purgatory thread>>>>>>>

  • yes, me too
    will pm soon re hoods, many thanks again
    your benevolence will have purged some of your demons no doubt

  • Threw this together today mostly from the parts bin (despite it being an incredible day up here, and a day I really should have spent riding the hills).

    Internal cable routing didn't really work on this last time I tried it (too narrow for an outer, but the weird entry angle makes the rear brake really shit and squishy.

    I always forget how much I love bikes with full guards during the summer.

  • Although I'm deaply anticommunitarian I begin to love more this forum and the members.

    What's taken you so long? Sort your top tube/seat posts out, and you'd get even more loved up.
