Chlorine causes environmental harm at low levels. Chlorine is especially harmful to organisms living in water and in soil.

I'm glad the ground water will be OK, but the chlorine will still be bad for the soil and animals and plants in it and any passing fishies in any courts that are surrounded by beautiful lakes and rivers, at least until they react and become sodium chloride or some kind of chlorinated organic compound, which in turn could well be toxic.
