my route was similar to yours regarding inserting a foreign object into bb for turning
either secure frame and turn said object if long enough to get good torque, or secure object and move frame, axles are a harder metal than bb casing, and seatposts, I figured that chemicals that would burn through axle could end up damaging paint
I would lubricate bb area thoroughly also
the lube process can take time if you are ocd like me
