  • Caniggia deserves a yellow card for not getting straight back up and a second yellow card for his haircut.

  • Clive, do you think Jose is the best manager for Chelsea team only at this period - or going forward? As an outsider, I just wonder about his longevity at a club. Although maybe that really isn't an issue in football anymore.
Cyclical managers are the norm these days, I'd much rather have a trophy winning coach that leaves after 3 or 4 years than one that wins jack all for 8 years on the trot.

I think he is a great manager. Im not actually sure how good of a coach he is but weakness there can be made up for by good backroom staff. He has the total support of the club at Chelsea as he did at Inter but not Madrid - I think this is important for him.
Put it this way, since Jose left our defence was the weakest link for one reason or another. From all the coaches that have come and gone only Hiddink and Ancelotti (in his title winning year) have managed to organise the defence. AVB made a hash out of it, RDM did well under circumstances and Benitez didn't do that bad either. Right now the defence looks as solid as it's ever been with plenty of options should there be any suspensions or injuries. Ivanovich being the most versatile of all our defenders. tl;dr Jose is a very, very good coach with great tactical awareness and organisational skills. He's also a bit of an arse, at least he's our arse.

I think come the other side of the Christmas period, we will see a truer picture of the league.

Between 2000 and 2010 only 5 teams that topped the table at Christmas went on to win it, Chelsea won 3 of them and Man Utd the other 2.

  • sounds like being 3rd might be an advantage

You say only but that is 50%.
Really looking forward to this evenings game. It should be a feast of goals with the two most attack minded teams battling it out for the place at the top of the table.
Almost like the good old days. Except Chelsea aren't in the 3rd division playing in front of Clive and 99 others

  • Sounds like Martin O'Neal is set to become the next Republic of Ireland manager with Psycho Keane as his number two. That would be interesting

  • ^^ block y2 row c. (restricted sight line)

    y2 l 227/8

  • Exactly 9 rows back then. I think me and my brother are 219/220. What pub are you going to first?

From the Telegraph: Newcastle United v Chelsea_"I will slap Jose Mourinho if he repeats crowd-jumping antics", says Alan Pardew

...I guess there'll be little chance of this happening.

  • Stoke's keeper scores after 1min

  • 12 sec in massive punt from Begovic, hon the Potters!

Along with Norwich and Sunderland. All change in the Premiership. Hello from the Etihad Wi-Fi by the way, 4-0 at HT. Bet it's a shite 2nd half.

  • Norwich defo, don't mind Sunderland

Stoke, Hull and Newcastle can all get fucked

  • Just waiting for my train back from Watford, the results are shaping up rather nicely

Impressive result, your boys are flying.

  • Norwich won't have a manager in about half an hour. We were lucky to get nil.

  • Yes! Swindon 5-2

  • If Hughton gets sacked you'll get all the do gooders moaning about lack of black managers in the Premiership.
Might it have something to do with the fact that he's shit and fucked up everywhere he's been?

  • I'd piss my arsehole if Poyet got sacked!
