  • ^ Benjamin. I'll be heading down to Exmoor for two weeks in December on "holiday". Any advice / free time to go and smash it on the odd morning? Bit of a trek for you I know.

  • warming my shorts up already.

  • I'd love to do this again. I could be tempted to do it fixed/SS if others are interested....

Germain Burton rode it on 72" fixed a few years ago and ripped a few peoples legs off :D

I know a few others have ridden it on 68"

Interesting, I'm currently looking to purchase a winter bike (likely a Croix de fer build up with spare bits and retroshifters or a Canyon Inflite al). I should have it for my birthday (1st Dec) and have just been told to take some additional holiday... I could see this working out.

Lemme know your plans by DM and we'll have a look see :)

  • Had a reminder email about this today, hopefully I'll remember to book a slot if it really sells out < 24 hours.

  • Tonight is entry night from midnight onwards if you are interested :)

  • I just booked 9.04am if anyone's interested in joining, road bike obvs, not that quick. It didn't seem to generate the email I was expecting with instructions, just a PayPal receipt so I may need to chase this up...?

It's come through now, thanks though.

  • I did the route as far as Kidd's Hill today. It is really lovely (though I am now covered in mud). Not doing the actual ride because I can't face the humiliation of wheezing up hills in front of everyone, but happy to volunteer again if you need people.

  • Entered. Must be fucking mad.

Is it a proper muddy one then? I only haz slick 23c wheels :(

No more than any normal rural riding. There's no off road sections or anything, but if it's wet you'll get muddy.

Last year the only thing I struggled with was the cold. Though that was my own fault for stopping briefly at the feed stop atop Ashdown before a long descent. I was properly shivering at the bottom and very thankful when the next ascent arrived.

  • In! 9:02 start......

  • Got a place as well. After a chat with KT I've decided to bring gears. I think of it as a late winter reward to myself.

  • Also in - late start as usual...

  • In, late start.

    Yay!

  • In for the 3rd year running - always a good start to the season and a sportive I really look forward to.

  • Still places available when last year they sold out in 20 hours?

Somehow this year we had a lot of double entries where people thought they were not in so entered again so we have kept it open now we have freed up the extra places.

  • This is gonna be hella muddy isn't it!
