"Ladies" is acceptable in the same way that "gents" is acceptable. Fine on the lavatory doors of faux-historic pubs in Bexleyheath, but not otherwise.
I often refer to women as ladies. Not to address them directly, but e.g "I met a lady who owned a lovely bicycle" etc. Yet I have been ridiculed here for being overly PC in my reactions to percieved misogyny in the memes thread among others. I am now confused. Lady is misogynistic?
Yeah, but if we're going to acknowledge the gentleman-dominated (and frequently sexist and misogynist) nature of the community by creating a sanctuary for the females
