Yeah, but if we're going to acknowledge the male-dominated (and frequently sexist and misogynist) nature of the community by creating a sanctuary for the females to come together and build a strong sub-community to help address this imbalance... then it would be good not to have reinforced those sexist views with the label "ladies".
But then, what do I know?
