Surly are generally small and long which is unfortunate for those who do not wish to have a tower of spacer.
The new Genesis CdF actually come in 50cm now.
If that's too long, have a look at the Col du Glandon, despite the lack of disc, the equipment and geometry is pretty ideas with a realistic 52cm TT.
Specialized AWOL is an awesome bike too, it sit inbetween a CX and a Salsa Fargo., their top tube look long but that's normal as it come with a shorter stem (60mm on the S).
