  • Have you had a look at Timberlands? More than just deck shoes and desert boots.

They're also well built. My dad bought a pair of leather boat shoes back in the mid 90s and they're still in semi-decent nick despite being abused.

Timberlands used to be quite good. Today's mainstream Timberlands are in my opinion... Junk.. Once one of the last remaining New England shoemakers--- Swartz's Timberland concept having not just saved the family shoe business from extinction but turning it into a multi-billion dollar global fashion player (and Jeffery himself a billionaire)-- its now just another fashion brand with an image and offshore production. Shoes are nearly all now made in Asia-- they do have a nice line of US made shoes (" Eastern Standard Series") but they are the exception. Timberland boat shoes, for example, in the 1980s were made in the US and a league better than the competition--- a big cut above Sperry. Their slogan was something like "You can't get a better handsewn".. and it was nearly true.. By the 1990s their boat shoes were of mediocre quality... Today the brand belongs to the VF Corp alongside other "brands" such as East Pac, North Face, Wrangler,..... What I've seen in the shops does not appear to indicate any improvement ...
