Because it's too many things to deal with for a beginner, and this has nothing to do with analog vs. digital, and "oldskool" or not.
If you want to get anywhere, you'll do yourself a big favour if you internalize / practice the basic stuff first.
Including, but not limited to:
Understanding how cameras work; when and how to use different shutter speeds and apertures.
Knowing your camera(s) inside out so you could use them blindfolded.
Try to figure out what images you personally would actually like to create,
as well as figure out what makes images "interesting" in general.
