But just getting the hang of levels in Lightroom adds so much fun to photography. What can be a good but flat shot straight out of camera, can become a great shot in Lightroom. Why not have all the fun straight away?
I've given up on recommending the purist view on photography. That's how I started out, with light meters and a film camera, and all it did was costing me a load of money with no results to show for it. A decent digital camera, shooting raw, and Lightroom would've made it both cheaper and more interesting / fun.
