• Lake CX145's- anyone seen a pair in the UK?

There is a few small stores that stock a good lake range. I'll have a look. I'm gagging to get some Lakes anyway.

New pair of Northwave Celsius Artics in my possession and awaiting cleats for the first really cold day of work. I have pretty poor circulation and last winter was particularly hard, so I have high hopes. Contrary to some advice I've seen knocking around I went a size up (43>44) and they fit fine, if slightly generously, with a pair of sealskinz on - tight lacing makes them a-ok. Should leave room for an extra pair of liner socks or a single pair of really thick hiking socks if needs be.

I too have done the gaffer taping of mesh vents - they'll give you another 2-3c of leeway but I find even with a pair of hench sealskinz and MT500 overshoes, below 0c/after a couple of hours they might as well not be there. They'll stop the wind from chilling the feet, but the eventual creep of chilling is unstoppable. Fine for commuting though.

Use the extra volume to add thicker insoles. 45NRTH do some good ones with aero gel in.

I have a 100 ltr tub of aero gel in the lab. Really need to figure out clever way to use some.
