Yes, it sounds like he's saying, basically, that he's all clued up now and he's earned the respect of the super-cool blb crowd, and if they are rude to you you deserve it for not knowing your shit. "I've been riding track bikes for around 7 years". Wow, was that before they were cool?
I think the athmosphere there is one of money grabbing elitism.
