• This is quite an extreme length to go to in order to get out of a date, couldn't you have just said you were waxing your owl instead?

Hope you're still coming out on Thursday even if you Tube it there and that your confidence comes back again. And also that you're now going to stop demonstrating how much harder you are than various inanimate objects, the only way you're going to top a bus is by getting into an argument with a Boeing 747 or the Shard or something,

  • Feel better soon Hats. Let us know if you need anything...

  • Thanks guys. I've got a bruise forming nicely on my arse and I feel awful about the whole thing - it keeps replaying in my head. This morning I realise just how lucky I am to be alive and it's scared the shit out of me. I can't imagine getting back on a bike for some time.

Really hope you're ok. Know what you mean about getting back on a bike. Did so yesterday after a month and so off and I don't remember ever being more paranoid on a bike. Stay safe.

  • Sorry to hear this, hats. Glad you're safe and well.

  • Wow. That's all kind of shit and rubbish to read/hear about.

I hope you feel better soon (physically and mentally) and investigation comes out in your favour

@BrixtonBlog heavy traffic on st matthews road turning into brixton hill. Major cyclist vs bus accident

just reported on twitter, brixton hill

  • In other news I am lawyering up. Will report any progress back.

oof, only just caught up with your incident on the previous page. Glad you're OK. I take it the fact they waited until the emergency services arrived they were at least insured.

Sounds like you gave them the option to sort it out amicably and they've not come good, bastards. Good luck

  • Hey - there's nothing wrong with snapchatting foof pictures while cycling.

Oh Hats, I've just seen this :( Hope you are feeling better now!

Thanks for this morning's pic - keeper for sure.

  • I've just deleted a post which contained a video of a rider/car incident. The rider was (thankfully) unharmed.
This is not the place for such videos.

  • Don't think there's any sniffing about going on. I don't think that's whats being advocated either.

Ultimately I've been inconvenienced, hurt and had my property damaged by someone not paying proper attention. I'd like that put right.

I'm a contractor. If I was so badly injured I could not work, then I'd get very formal about the situation. However it appears I am not, so I'm willing to be fairly flexible.

    My plan -

Go to GP to get neck pain looked at
Bike is going to Coldhabour's to get checked

If GP is happy its nothing serious, then I'll call the guy and ask for him to cover the cost of the cab home from Brixton, the damage to the bike, and the travel to and from coldhabours and some kind of redress for the time.

I got hit a few months ago, nothing broken but my bike was a write off. I am also a contractor and had to take 2 days off work, claimed about £3.5k all in through the girls insurance. This covered my bike and missed work only.. Could have got more if I had wanted to go to court but the insurance co could authorise the £3.5k that day. All very convenient as I was only looking to cover my loss of work and bike....cuts and bruises have now healed but it took about 6 weeks to get my wedding ring back on and my middle finger on my left hand is still sore.

  • I got hit and broke my collarbone last tuesday, going to claim for repair or write-off of bike through the driver's insurance. I hadn't thought about injury claims, but my legally-minded friend says I should claim for that too, especially given that shoulders can often have chronic problems later on.

Not fussed about getting madd ca$h but I'll definitely have to spend more on the commute if I don't go by bike. I've been on half-term so technically not lost any earnings. Don't get paid for half-term. :(

  • Lawyer up. Seriously. Anything else strikes me now as a waste of time.

Why? Because you stand a better chance of being fairly compensated for the inconvenience and unessary pain inflicted on you.

  • what's happening to your driver now then, Howard? Just out of interest. Are are you back on your feet now?

  • Went a bit quiet when I sent him the bill. Custom CX bikes aren't cheap.

Lawyers now on the case. Will update. In other news the GPS trace of the whole sorry affair is quite interesting.

  • Me for being an idiot. Took a blind right hand turn leaning and at pace. Wet leaves in blind spot. Ripped bibs, bent bars and twisted saddle, road rash and a touch of bruising. Feel like a plonker but im fine.

Car stopped and put his hazards on and helped me up. Nice guy.

  • Don't lean!

  • Hope you're okay considering...

  • Cheers mate. I'm fine really. More annoyed by my ripped bibs than anything and also frustrated because its unlike me to ride like that. Just had to pop out to Boots to buy some plasters to stop the oozing into my suit trousers.

Its not summer out there kids. Don't be a plonker, stay away from the conker (tree) (leaves).

    Ouch! HealTFU soon.

I'm steering well clear of leaves at the moment.

  • I did that last Thursday on a bend and nearly ended up underneath a van coming the other way.

  • I did that early this year and

    i) it was bloody embarrassing
    ii) I fractured a thumb
    iii) recked a rear wheel

Scuffed up SRAM red shifters are constant reminder to cool it off.

  • Im a lucky chappy then. Ive got a right shiner on the front and right hand side of my calf but other than a few sticky bits im feeling fine.
