I think that kind of niggle happens in all sports and is a bit random.
For me it's usually the first mile when's brain seems to tell my body- if you protest now we can eat cake instead/ ooh look a Gregg's, bet they have the cronut now/etc.
Cycling I usually find it's the first 10 where my body doesn't want to know, which makes my commute a drag to begin with and then a very brief punt of pure fun.
Anyways, I've been away from this thread for too long.
About 2 weeks ago I tried to run too soon after a CX race and promptly got scared- 'what if you can't run anymore'/ 'it's just not that fun- go cycling'/etc.
I ate myself today as a deadline for restarting training, and so this morning with little expectation I set off for a short one. Ended up 12k later, beaming, panting and dripping with sweat. Just south of 50mins. I fucking love running.
