• The best day I had in Vietnam was riding a Minsk. It missed like fuck, underpowered for 2 up, only worked at full throttle or at idle, and the bike vibrated enough to give me a dead leg after 30 mins. 150km of broken and unpaved roads through rural Vietnam was incredible. Met amazing villagers who laughed that I was still riding a Minsk when they abandoned them for Japanese scooters 10 years ago. My girlfriend only yelped once when I almost rear ended a local who got stuck in a surprisingly deep muddy puddle and I fish tailed it through a bumpy bit trying to avoid him. We rode over bridges so narrow I could put my feet out and have them over water, a floating bridge which was just wooden planks lashed to blue barrels, and on a ferry which was just longer in width than a bike length so 10 people ride on while it's still moving and you rode off while it moved too. Incredible day! There's no way I could have experienced any of that in a car.
