And doesn't the England central defence look a lot better without Rio and Terry.
Yes…which brings me onto Smalling.
As a kid I had something missing as a footballer. I had enough athletic ability, more than enough will to win and understood the game and my part in the team. I played either CB, CDM or upfront (never scored). I played upfront because I would kick shit out of their CBs. What was missing was that composure, confidence and quick reactions to a situation that you need in football. In other words, if you passed me the ball I would shit the bed.
Anyway, my point, something in Smalling reminds me of me. He just never looks comfortable or confident and I’m sure I can see the fear in his eyes as the ball comes towards him.
Daniel Harris @ The Guardian doesn't seem to think so....
'How England's team for their first World Cup group game should look'
What a helmet...he's chosen to omit the entire defence, the one that got us through in the first place and go for two well shit Utd 'defenders' who can't even get in the Utd first team!?
Oh....'Harris is a Utd journo' you say? He's shoehorned 5 of the cunts in there!!
It comes as no surprise then that he's also got a book to promote - 'The Promised Land - Mancheser Utd's historic treble'
