Can't recall seeing earphones. But he was a nice chap just a bit too keen to give ground on fault during the discussion IMO. Perhaps a bit more diplomatic than I'm prepared to be in those situations!
Doesn't help that my Glasgow accent always sounds a bit more aggressive than intended.
