  • Smallfurry, did you ever buy that rab stretch neo jacket? if so, how was it? Can't decide between that and the PTJ

I found a similar jacket in a clearance sale from Haflof. Same principle of being more waterproof than a softshell, and more breathable than a hardshell. Inbetweenie thing. Worth noting that its a load lighter than a softshell, and just as stretchy/flexible.

I bought mine for use as a hardshell when out and about in the nordic winter. So its a bit big for cycling (room for layering). Plus I obviously cant comment on the fit of the Neo anyway. But the material seems like a great hardshell solution for those that run a bit warm in 'proper' hardshells. Mines never leaked, is amazingly windproof, and doesnt make me sweat. I used mine from 15 to -10C, for everthing thing from active stuff like cycling/skiing to sitting around on a lake in the rain fishing. Massivly broad range of comfortable usage.

I actually think the Neo would be, if anything, slightly better.

Massive difference in fit between something designed for activities like climbing, and cycling though. Long arms, and back on both for coverage while reaching. But the Neo will be loose around the trunk.
