possibly locked by front wheel..
Exactly

Thanks all.
I've got the CCTV footage of the guy angle grinding through my lock on a memory stick but the police aren't being very proactive about collecting it. Not sure whether to drop it off at the station or whether that risks them losing it.

Make copies of anything before giving it to the police - Upload it to dropbox / some other cloud storage too.

Have done, but thanks.
I see gumtree twats are now posting ads with pictures of random bikes, which aren't actually the stolen goods they're trying to sell.
I think I am more depressed about it today than I was yesterday. And I'm knackered because I had to run in due to lack of appropriate bike.

I remember thinking how insecure that yard was when I came to a meeting last year. Sorry to hear that, Rosie.
I've heard it before that people just put teaser ads up, like certain estate agents' ads, and either when you ring them, or when you meet to hand over the bike, they go 'ah sorry, that one's gone, but I have another one, would you be interested in that?'

Done some depressing Friday night viewing of the CCTV footage. There's two of em, one spotting in the building (invisible to the car park camera) while the other guy angle grinds away in full view. Done my best CSI-esque enhancing and failed to pull any faces out, but there's enough of them on camera for some purpose I'm sure. Hope the popo get around to picking it up :/

Was it insured 6pt/tb?

Shitty Luck TB, good luck in getting it back!

Who's surprised.
Not me, I had to free my bitch locked bike in W1 at lunch time in broad daylight, dozens of people walked past without batting an eyelid.

If it spurs you on, TheoryGirl had a bike stolen from her office not long back - CCTV also captured the crook. Keep at the police. With a good image you have the beginnings of a decent case. Our mug was known to the police, promptly arrested and is now on a stretch. She didn't get her bike back, but still. Cheerio dickhead.

Anyone had a Willier Cento nicked recently? Just seen one barely locked up under the train bridge on Shoreditch High St, looked very much like it was waiting to be flogged. Black with neon lime decals.

Not a bike, but some bits stolen from my bike, just off of Theobald's Road today.
Surprise, surprise a Brooks saddle (was asking for it), tan leather. But what is causing me real trouble is that with the saddle (and seat post) went the Bagman Support for my Carradice saddlebag. Just like this:
If anyone happens to see such a thing for sale in Brick Lane etc. please buy it and I'll buy it from you. Similarly, if you spot one for sale online (eBay etc. please to point me in its direction.)
Thanks
Joe

As no one on here (or any other bike forum for that matter) would ever dream of buying or selling stolen goods, be that on forums or eBay, where the hell is the market and where are the sales channels for high-end frames and components?
-
• #11116
stolen parts are rife on ebay, people buying them by the bucketload
-
• #11117
So no questions asked... as long as it's a good deal, is that about the size of it? Not minded at you personally, obviously.
-
• #11118
Yup, this is the world we live in, do you not read the daily mail or something?

Read The Guardian and FT religiously* as I get the subscriptions for free and have nothing better to do with life right now. Quite enjoy real paper papers as it goes, even if they do talk bollocks.

two expensive looking track bikes being sold amongst the shitty ATBs on Brick Lane today. One was black and had chromed (or possibly white) lugs, small size, maybe 52cm, and the rear stays faded from black to white, it had some pretty hefty Deep rims on there, one black the other silver.... A young blonde trendy guy bought them and another similar fixie.... Brick Lane is just open selling of stolen goods. With the sort of info collected on this forum, I'm pretty sure people could get their bikes back there....
The Claud Butler that I saw last week had been stolen the night before from a house in Hackney Downs. It was featured on The Hackney Peddler's Instagram and FB. If only I'd seen it on the sunday I would have got the bike back for the owner!

I find it utterly depressing that people have no qualms buying obviously stolen bikes.

Had two bikes stolen a couple of weeks ago. Keep checking bikeshd if you're London based. One of mine showed up on there a couple of days later advertised on eBay. Hoping the Police will track it down but not holding out too much hope of that. If you've got any burly mates just go get it back yourself.

Cycling towards mornington crescent from euston this morning, all black bike, i think it was matte, but could have been dirt.
Cane creek headset logo and concor saddle logo were the only bits of colour so not very recognisable.
metal pedals with straps.
fixed with front break
Could be innocent but the guy (shortish, small guy, balding, blue vans with wooly socks over trousers) had the drop bars pointing straight up and had the seat slammed.
seemed a bit suspicious.
possibly locked by front wheel..
