I've found out we're converting the garage at my family house.
One of the issues I pointed out to my mother is that there is a step from the main house out to the garage. The way she plans to do the work is to take the wall between the kitchen/diner and the garage down, which would mean the step runs the whole way along. This would take up quite a bit of space.
Can anyone think or show an example of where something similar has been done nicely or a creative way to reduce the footprint of the step?
edit: It is a single step of about 1-1.5 feet currently.
