Sure there's a benefit to getting updates but there's also a downsides as Google seems to be doing its very best to fuck up its applications - Maps are shitted now, Latitude is gone, they keep changing their desktop applications, removed
Reader, Wave, Buzz, etc.
You can usually flash a non-stock tablet down the line if you want to.
You also miss out on some nifty stuff like the hand-writing recognition on the Note, for example.
Basically, updates are nice but they're not everything - what changed going from 4.2 to 4.3? I think I noticed one change.
