Bascially - Huddlestone has always looked like a player and there was a season where he got quite lean and a little more mobile; but his passing alone was never good enough to get in front of players of limited talent like Jenas, let alone good players like Sandro and Paulinho.
It's also fair to say that he never really got a fair crack at consistent first team league football, which would probably have sharpened him up a bit, but if you are aiming for the prestigious heights of nearly Champions league there is no room for streaky passengers... unless you are Defoe obviously.
