I have not used goals per shot because Defoe shoots a lot because he has an uncanny ability to get a shot off, even when he has picked up the ball with his back to goal, 20 yards from the penalty area and near the touchline.

when perhaps the better option would be to play the ball sideways/to another player of the same team. Rather than giving it away.
