Strong or not. I wouldn't dare riding a bike with those puny rear stays.

Cervelo, BMC, and countless others all have skinny stays, yet are ridden by pretty powerful folk.

^^^ Hushovd's Paris-Roubaix R3 being exhibit A. In any case, the seat stays are probably the area of the frame you most want to flex.

Even for LFGSS this is trollsome.

Or maybe not.
There are some bigguns on here.

It's worth seeking out the Rob English interview where he chats to some gurn from a magazine at a bike show. Iirc Rob makes the point that stays form part of the rear triangle and therefore you won't get a great deal of flex. If you want flex for comfort the seatpost is the place to go.

i look at those stays and they do worry me.
i kind of see those stays as mr english saying , look at these , this is how fucking brilliant an engineer i am.

The "triangle" is more like a tetrahedron, and the loading is not in line with the seat stays*. Therefore, they bend. Some manufacturers pre-curve them to make them bend more, and in a particular way, but even straight stays bend.
If you want comfort, though fitting bigger tyres is more effective than any tweaks to 'rigid' frame designs.
*you could make a frame where the seat stays only ever saw a pure compression load, but it would have to have spherical bearings at each end of each stay, accurately centred on the centreline of the stay.

Bwat? Really think the 'rod' stays let English down.
I think braking torque could be more of an issue in terms of fatigue at the puny seat junction.
Just adds to the overall 'shed' look IMO.

I wish my shed had bikes like that.

'Shed' as in built in one.
As opposed to an OEM with an industrial autoclave.

Still like the weird looking Kirk Precision for some kind of reason..

B0N0R's Dolan is great!
I quite like this... nice and simple / understated.
Was hoping it was some kind of inspired cheapo choice that I could copy for own bikes, but obviously not.
Rail set-up looks interesting.
Also, they're the best looking open pros I've seen for a while!
