You could've just said, "Shit, sorry to those I've offended and I'll do my best to avoid such flippancy in future". The whole episode would've passed without another post, but you seem determined to drag it out a long long time. Are you really wanting to defend a sexist position? Probably not, you just didn't want to be called out over a dumb non-thinking post. I'd recommend a U-turn before you find yourself protesting too much.
