  • If there are any places left when my invoice clears I'm in.
You sir, are a bastard. I wasn't planning on getting that far til much later in the year but we'll see...

Meh, you'll love it. And beat me, by the sound of it.

  • Well now I have something to aim for at least...

  • Time to get srs, might even get one of dem fancy pants armband thingies for mah phone.

  • £30 for the shoes btw.

  • Is anyone interested in an Amsterdam Marathon bib?
I registered but it's very likely I won't be able to make it so I can transfer.

If anyone can take this off him, do it - it's a really good race. I'm going to do it again sometime, but drop acid on the start line and see what happens.

If it was a week later I would be.

No London marathon place for me either.

@hatbeard, unfortunately there is no substitute for running, lots.

  • Anyone read that "sorry" magazine? Don't see what it could possibly say that would interest me. Maybe next year...

  • i binned the sorry magazine unopened.
    paris for me too!

@edmundro 18weeks training is enough, so if you want to do better and start now you have loads of time

I just entered. It's currently at €100 - will go up for final 8,000 places.

  • Paris is great, but don't rely on gps for timing, there are quite a few tunnels!

  • Entered for Paris. Put my target time as 4hrs. Time to htfu...
Getting 'edmundro' on my bib so feel free to das(do a skip?) me..
What's the deal with the Medical Certificate? Do I just need to pop to my gp near the time to issue me with summat that says I shouldn't keel over 10k in?

Forumboss never responded to my pm about forum running vests which is a shame if there'll be a few of us in paris..

Not sure on the GP stuff. Will ask my more organised friend who also did it last year.

  • You on Facebook, Ed? I'll introduce you to the folks that are doing Paris.

  • Alas no, this is as close as I get to social networking.
We shall have to go for a run some weekend soon and shoot the shit my good man.
There's a template medical form on the paris website, I haven't translated it but it's only half a page, looks like you just need a sig or two from a sawbones to say you're all good to go.

For sure. I'm hobbling a bit at the moment because of a couple of stupid incidents, but on the mend.

  • There's a pro forma that the doc needs to complete and sign - if you know a friendly doc all it requires is a signature.

  • « I, the undersigned Dr .…, Doctor of medicine, certify that the examination of Mr. (YOURSELF) reveals no contraindications for participating in running competition. Medical certificate issued in on the :… Signature/Stamp :… »

  • Looking forward to tomorrow's Ealing half. Weird going into a race feeling very fit despite carrying an injury and only having run 5k in the last six weeks.

Have absolutely no idea what to expect.

  • Good luck dude, sure yea'll be just fine.
I had a nice little 5k today trying to sort out my form in my new shoes; trying to run on the mid/forefoot feels nice but it seems like I have to think about every single step as opposed to just getting on with it. Sure it'll click after a while..

  • Forgot Oyster card today, Boris biked for most of it. Got to the part of needing to get home, and bus was only option, no cash, relatively heavy traffic.
Ran against the bus for 4 miles in a pair of khakis and a shirt, they need a wash now but I only lost out to the bus at the last but 1 stop from home.

    It felt fucking great.

  • 1:39:40

Pretty pleased with that considering the lack of training. Think I ran the first half in 38:30 but wasn't surprised that the second was slower.

Felt the hip thing from about 2k in, but it actually got better through the race rather than worse. Weird. Bet it's sore tomorrow.

  • Just realised that should've been 48:30 for the first 10.5k

  • Nicely done sir. Up for Paris in April?

  • I just heard that another five guys I know are running it. Popular this year...

Ed, let me know if you want to get in on hotels or whatever, or if you're just going to book something. Whatever. We've not planned anything yet.

  • Cool, we need to be there the day before for signing in and stuff it would appear. Will have a think about hotels and shit asap as presumably they book up fast...
Edit: Me and LadyLiz are gonna make a weekend of it so will get a hotel sorted ourselves. A cursory browse on trivago shows there's still plenty of bargains to be had at least.
