Scoot sorry about the bro comment. didn't know you were a lady.
Do what you want to your forks.

S'ok bro.
Clockwork_killa just dropped off his brake at my house. Him and xsvcx have just won the prize for literally the nicest couple ever. Massive rep to you both.
I'm now going to attempt to fit it...

Scoot's not a bloke? I have met him/her/it before.
-

That's why I was confused, Scoot wears the trousers and Henrietta is subservient.

I say get disc brake mounts brazed onto the fork.
-
• #308
Or, get a front wheel with a hub brake, that wouldn't need anything to be done to the fork, simply clamp the arm onto the fork leg, stick the lever on the bars and you are ready to go.

Aww :-) glad we could help. Have you fitted the headset yet? Or are you taking it to LMNH?

I RODE MY BIKE TO WORK TODAY AND IT WAS AWESOME
It took me all weekend to fit the clamp on brake but I did it!!! I can now add that to my list of life achievements.
And as much as the brake is essential I am trying to use it as little as possible, I didn't use it at all on the way to work and only twice on the way home. Need to get used to skidding again. Not to mention spinning.
Andrew the mechanic wasn't working at lmnh today so the suspense continues on the drillemma! I need him to swap the headset too.
I also need to wrap the bars.

You don't even need to skid in order to ride without relying on the brake a lots, just keep a decent speed without ample room/time to manoeuvre should anything happened in front of you.
The similaries between Cycle Training and Brakeless is actually pretty close, with Cycle Training we taught the riders to make their own risk assessment to prevent says, a collision, looking behind more often, and reducing speed when necessary (such as Oxford Street).
Brakeless forced the riders to do the above as well, abet not as clear-cut or quicker to learn than Cycle Training obviously.

Lol. Sounds familiar. Great to hear you are skidding. Def agree you don't need to as much as you think. Just assume everyone is trying to kill you and take precautionary measures beforehand. DAWS every now and then just to get accustomed to stopping that way and you will be fine. I'll keep a look out for you so if I spot you def you'll hear a shout out to DAWS.
From what I saw thus far the bike looks great btw.

Here it is as I'm riding it currently (It's been a while because I wanted to take a photo of it in a new location but kept forgetting).
Swapped the saddle out because it was just too hard for my poor buns, for one that's a simlar shape but more padded.
The clamp on brake IS a faff to take off and put back on every time I go to the track but less fiddly than I thought. It still takes over 10 minutes though. And, even though there's fabric tape where the clamps sit, every time I have to twist them on and off I'm scared of scratching the paint.
I've got used to riding almost brakeless except for the odd moment where I'm going down a hill or a ped suddenly walks over a zebra crossing. But even when I go whole journeys without using it I'm still glad to have it because it means I can peg along long straight bits at a faster speed that I can comfortably stop quickly at, knowing that if some idiot did pull out of a side-street without looking I'd be able to use the brake.
Sooooo I am going to drill the forks. Andrew at lmnh says it's got enough meat in the crown, and he has access to a pillar drill, so possibly this weekend it will happen and at the same time I can finally get the headset changed to the Dura Ace one.
And I wrapped my first set of bars and I'm quite pleased with the result!

Sad times if you ask me, but so be it... Still, if it means you'll enjoy your bike even more it'll be well worth it :)
