Ask Josh C.
He sorted the nets for the LII.
Otherwise I can give you the details of a Polish company who did the goal nets for the Euros, but I don't know how cost effective they will be for big nets, and getting them over here.

what happened for the ones used for the Olympic park/st pauls thing?
-
• #4
They are in storage for next year's event. I can email the Ride London guys and find out what nets they used? They were pretty good.

How tall does the net have to be on top of the boards? 1m? 2m?

Have a look at debris netting - it's the stuff they wrap around scaffolded buildings to stop stuff falling onto passers-by.

CC'ed you in to the email Joe so hopefully they will come back to us ASAP.

Thanks, Jess, that's great!
We're talking at least 6 metres, Kev...
Herne Hill have told us we can host the BFF tourney there if we can find a solution in time... Unlikely, I know, but it would be awesome...

Six metres from the top of the boards ?? Yikes... thats a tall order (groan).
This stuff is 4m - so we could get it cut into 6m long strips, then we'd have netting rectangles of 4m x 6m.
The boards are 2m across, right?
Even building 6m uprights to connect the netting on to is going to be tough...

^^ Oh if we can get 6m netting in a roll obvs that'd be much easier.

Building 'stancheons' is not tough. it would be nice if for once people looked at the object we are discussing in person before commenting on what we should / shouldnt be doing.

I know that the mitch stuff is tough enough to hold a BMX in place, but how big are the squares. Does the ball go through the roof? I cant remember.

Awesome B!
So the court is built, it is amazing... It is currently being painted by hardcore volunteers...
We have been told that if we can find a netting solution that guarantees a ball cannot reach the track from the court we will be able to play there anytime we like (apart from Good Friday or other days when the track is booked 100% for another event)... Obviously, this is a very, very good thing...
Can we put our heads together and come up with some kind of solution?
Any amazing ideas out there? Any hook-ups in the net world? Sponsors that might pay for a net (Shimano?)...
Sensible suggestions appreciated*...
