Most of the major stars of the last twenty years have comparable levels of lack of ability. The problem is that in acting you actually have to give yourself up and act as if you're someone else. That rather jars with the concept of stardom, and very few manage to reconcile the two things.

We have our fair share of folks who are capable of stepping outside of themselves in spite of their fame or glamour. Proper actors as it were: (Literally off the top of my head) Charlize Theron, Michael Shannon, Michael Douglas, Tom Cruise (yes - even tom), Suzan Sarrandon, Julianne Moore.... people who are prepared to retard or disregard their image for the sake of craft.
