  • I'm actually mising it. I used the bottom bracket to make a propellor a few weeks ago and now can't seem to find the plastic thingmy

I suppose any left hand side (reverse thread) BB cup would do the job of keeping shite out, if anyone has one...

  • Left side is conventionally threaded... should have a spare.

  • Thanks mate but I've had to order a new BB anyway. Finished setting up the bearings in that back wheel and checked the chainline and found I needed a much shorter spindle.

Should have the frame repainted and the bike built up by this weekend!

  • Just upgraded to Avid bb7 disc brakes, bring on the rain!

    Pics!

    I'm doing the same :)

  • Top Trumps for the Three person teams proposed :)

  • I'm going to compete on strength and shot velocity from now on. Protein shakes ahoy!

  • Wrists' training camp.

  • Fin got three 'feedback forms' from Foster Derby at Calthorpe so we can make comments about the fact that the council doesn't want to replace lights there.

I agree with Fin that this is unlikely to work on its own. Let's get these forms done and posted in the next couple of days. I'll fill out one and bring the others on Sunday.

Kat said she'd phone someone from the council and I can email a reporter from the Birmingham Mail who wants to do some cycling stories. I think that saying we won't be able to play our niche cycling sport all winter if they don't sort out their bulbs qualifies as a story. The real issue should be BCC not providing basic facilities for mainly kids in a deprived area, but I doubt that's 'the right angle'.

  • I can send some emails too. I'll find out who the councillor for parks is on Monday and distribute the address accordingly.

  • Where did you access the forms from? I will do one tonight if I can download it, also will try to ring council tomorrow.

  • I've got some numbers that I will phone this afternoon when catching up on stuff and moving furniture becomes too much for me!

  • These are the councillors for Edgbaston: http://www.birmingham.gov.uk/edgbaston-councillors

I'm going to e-mail them now, I feel like Deidre Alden is a bit rubbish but my boss said he knows her through fencing and so she's interested in sport. I'll give the numbers a go before I put anything on here in case they are complete dead ends.

  • she's good with patios too.

  • Dad joke!

  • I'm on a roll today.

  • I got this back. I love how quickly people reply when they're passing the buck. I will now try those other people.

Thank you for your e-mail. Unfortunately, Calthorpe Park does not come under Edgbaston, and has not done so since 2004. Indeed, I'm not sure that the pitches have ever been in Edgbaston Ward. You will need to contact one of the Sparkbrook councillors - Victoria Quinn, Tony Kennedy or Mohammed Azim, or the Hall Green District Office on 675 9000.

    Cllr Fergus Robinson

  • Victoria Quinn spoke at the Cycle City Expo and I think has some involvement with cycling policy.

  • Although I doubt it's the cycling angle that will be of any use...

  • Before I saw this I sent a querey to the sports maintenance people requesting that the lights be replaced - didn't mention polo or bikes.

So reading above has the council refused to change the bulbs?

  • Is calthorpe playable in the meantime or should we give somewhere else a go?

  • I've emailed the Cabinet Member for lesiure and all of the Sparkbrook councillors.

  • Tony Kennedy has said "I have already requested this be remedied.

    Regards,

    Tony"

Phil Parkin has passed the buck to someone else.

    More updates soon!

  • Phil Parkin said this to me:
    Kathryn,
As this park is not in the ward I represent or looked after by the district committee that I am a member of I have asked Cllr Ian Ward the deputy leader of BCC to look into the issue and contact you directly.

Tony Kennedy said this (not sure who Simon and Pete are but he copied them in):
    I'll look into it.

Simon+pete, can this be resolved please?

    Regards

    Tonyk

Also I phoned the Hall Green neighbourhood office and spoke to a nice lady who is going to look into it and phone me back. I kind of love pestering the council!

  • What! Phil Parkin is the Cabinet Member for Parks and Leisure!
    What a loser.
