Training ride init ;)

I can't make Saturday, but if anyone fancies doing this on either Tuesday the 24th or Wednesday the 25th then let me know.
I've some additional loops in mind too.
So, next Wednesday the 25th I'll be doing a Three Pimples like route in the morning. I'm fairly flexible on start time, but ideally want to be home no later than 2 pm.
Anyone interested?

Possibly. Reckon I could wrangle a morning off.

I am running Ultegra groupset on my CX bike and rear mech needs to be replaced. Should I go for MTB mech like this http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/shimano-zee-m640-shadow-10-speed-rear-mech/rp-prod82431 to reduce chain flap or just stick with Ultegra?

can you run road shifters with mtb mechs for shimano?
-
• #932
You used to be able to. Now you cant. shadow+ are incompatible. Dyna-sys cable pull ratio or somn'.
Wouldn't surprise me if shimano came out with a cx specific clutched road mech at some point though.

What are you running on your Kinesis Howard?
-
• #934
Am I right in thinking SRAM road/mtb is compatible?
-
• #935
yes.
-
• #936
I used to run a Tiagra mech on my dirt jump/4X bike because it was smaller and supposedly the springs were stronger or something. And it was cheap.
So they were compatible that way round.

When they were 9 speed yea. You could also run the 9 speed mtb mechs with 10 speed road stuff. However I don't think they made a 9 speed shadow plus derailure. They did shadow versions but these don't have the clutch.
What are you running on your Kinesis Howard?
Both kinesis and talbot are SRAM rival / x9

as it gets dark now at around 7pm there's not much time to train, looks like the nearest place is epping forest, guess I need to invest in a proper front light.

This week:
Redbridge on Saturday then Hillingdon on Sunday -
• #942
There's races at Hog Hill (Redbridge) on Saturday (London League) and Sunday (Eastern League).
Dimi - have a look on the Rolla forum, there's a thread on there with a fair bit of race information and we have people doing both the London and Central leagues.

Are you still up for this, Howard? Anyone else?

What time were you thinking Andy? I'd be most likely to do early, say 9am start. Will have to check tomorrow if it's feasible though. I'm 50/50.

I'm flexible on time. I need to drop the kids at the childminders by 8 a.m. but that's my only commitment. 9 a.m. is good.
Ideally I'd like to be back in time to see most of the Worlds TT, but the main riders won't be starting until 3ish, so I could do later if that's better for you.

It's likely I'd need to be in the office for Wednesday PM, so earlier the better really. I'll drop you an email tomorrow if I'm a goer for 9am.
Very keen on getting a good ride in though - I need to test the new crosser and get the steerer chopped at Blue Door Bikes / Talbot

I'm about to have two weeks off work with nothing to do, starting on Monday September 30th.
Either of you (or anyone else, for that matter) up for a weekday CX ride then?
