  • Saturday afternoon, silver Low// with risers, shouldering a Reddish/burgundy frame down through Lewisham
    Probably definitely on-here

hi! yeah, was bringing my kalavinka back home from Mr Vaz.
also spotted digger somewhere out there, which was funny as we both did a double take first...

also, Yankee SB hooning down euston road as usual today.

and to the fluoro nodder that was trying to race me yesterday - if you decide to rlj make sure there is nothing coming at you from both left and right, and yes, this is why I giggled

  • I think I need to be a calmer commuter.

Stopped at the lights at the King William St interchange this morning, chap walks through the middle of the ASL and carooms his wheely luggage off my rear wheel.

I say "are you going to apologise?" as he walks on.

He says "I don't think I can reply to that politely, so no".

To which I reply, looking him in the eye, and with a great deal of sincerity, "Well, you're a massive cunt then aren't you".

He got quite cross at this point.

Your reply was perfect to his.

  • Also just remembered whilst waiting at the traffic lights at High Holborn, a guy on a cinelli histogram mash (RJL), with probably a deep hed front wheel heading to Tottenham court road area this morning as well...

  • The recently much-spotted blackandblue racing past me (#flulungs) straight outta Brixton.

Then a catch up with Chalfie.

    Morning all. Nice ride in.

Morning! What do you ride villa-ru? I'll keep an eye out in the future.

I also spotted artyflaharty again this morning but we got split by the lights so couldn't chat.

Beautiful morning for a ride in today.

I think I would have genuinely laughed at his reply.

I also love the word "caroom". Must use it myself at some point (hopefully in correct context).

(Personally, whilst it is often tempting - and usually easiest - to fire off a quick rude retort, it can be better to diffuse a situation with humour - which wheely man seems to have attempted. I endorse your view that you should try to be a calmer commuter.)

  • ...and whilst I am at it, I have a confession to make that someone once DAS'd me on a Friday night at the lights north of Southwark Bridge at the bottom of Queen St. Several months ago. I think they were helping out at one of those bike doctor things. I was not aware of this thread at the time nor the concept of DAS. So I naively rounded up and explained that I didn't know how to DAS and the chap politely gave me a few pointers although seemed a bit embarrassed at having shouted DAS to someone that clearly had no idea what he was talking about...

  • It 100% wasn't humour on his part

Beautiful morning for a ride in today.

mostly an unhealthily filthy Touche, sometimes a brompton or temporarily a borrowed Marin roadie.

I'm currently wearing an unfeasibly bright, retina-burning flouro pink jersey so am easily spotted.

Aha, then depending on my mood I would have either:

    (a) laughed.
    (b) replied along the lines of your reply.

Either way, he sounds like a twunt and will likely go on to have a pretty lousy day.

  • @villa-ru Blimey, I don't recall such a jersey this morning, which is slightly worrying as I like to think I am aware of my surroundings when I commute but I am aware of seeing a Touche from time to time. Is it blue? I think I have also on rarer occasions seen a black one.

  • Not only did I catch up with ru, I also managed to have a chat with Clever Pun.

Nice to see the both of you!

Nice little roll in this morning, good to see you again and hopefully 3rd time lucky!!

  • ^^proof fluoro makes you less visible.

Nah - it's black, de-stickered and mostly changed components now so not very obviously a touche.

In further CSB news I had a clear jacket over the jersey today which mitigates the brightness a bit. I'll holler next time I see you.

  • @blackandblue
Morning, so slow this morning I couldn't catch a sleeping snail.
BTW Olive? looks brown to me....

  • Who was the "onhereenger" with tats, a mash, and a spok going up Kennington road.
And the kona chap in shorts?

    Brixton - Kennington way.

Aha! Then I do recall seeing you. I did think you looked like you should be powering along faster than you were. Hope the cold goes away quickly.

I think you need to see it in a certain light to truly appreciate its oliveness. An olive light works best.

Very possibly me if it was between 08:00-08:30

Who did I ride down Oxford Street with about 6 last night - me on my silly Mash and you on the 26" trick fixed with huge tyres and wide bars. He was ripping it hard and pulling 5 meter whip skips at the slightest provocation.

  • TW2 yesterday on Old Kent Road. He looked a bit grumpy, but did wave. Hi!

This morning stuck amongst a throng of commuteurs including Clever Pun from London Bridge to Bishopsgate. I recognised the tattoos, and the HHV jersey. Is this what on here looks like?

I think I also saw someone fitting the description of lettiemarsh. Teh brakless lopro on Kingsland road. She was either concentrating very hard on potholes or pondering the true depth of her front wheel.

  • "...She was either concentrating very hard on potholes or pondering the true depth of her front wheel."

One should never exempt the other...

  • Guy asked me as I stopped at the lights yesterday "Is that the cap you wear to get told to skid stop" My instinctive reply while over frowning: "You're a very weird man, go away" and I cycled off. He's probably never going to talk to anyone at the lights again :S

  • That's a bit of a shame. I think its alot more wierd not to talk to any of the hundreds people you see on bikes every day.

  • Red falcon, 531 DB - deep rims - Homebase on the A4 at Gillette Corner. Who? Would have said hello, but random blokes talking to you at a DIY shop is a bit awkward

Hai! That was me with my cheery face on...

  • spotted a black 725, front tri spoke, full kit on bethenal green road yesterday around 6pm
