I'm no expert but canti's would suggest about 10 years prior to 2001?
-
• #1378
why? Cross bikes have cantis
-
• #1379
oops, didn't realise. I'm more of an mtb guy and you don't usually see many bikes post 95 with cantis, certainly not post 2000.

I'm no expert but this looks bit like an older Merlin Extralight CX frame, the welds at the dropouts, the rear brake brigde and the seatbolt. Google for images to compare.

Is that stem ti?

Is that stem ti?
Relevant question. I have no idea..

I see what you mean and you might well be right. Shot an email of to Mr Kellog who would have been the designer if this is the case.
EDIT: Tom Kellog answered, not a Merlin.

Bike looks polished which is labor intense so might be a frame of some value.
Are the seatstays hourglass shaped?
Lots of older merlins have pressfit bb which sort of limit your crank choices, could be good to know / find out.
Regardless of make, its an old frame with old standards. Not worth a lot imo.

Is that stem ti?
Looking at the welding I'm not 100% sure...
-
• #1385
Yeah - a quick google for titanium profile design stem doesn't yield much.

a frame of some value.
Not worth a lot imo.Can I press you for a figure? Seller is asking €950 / £800, which I feel is very steep.

Strikes me as very pricey. Was it raced? With the equipment attached? If you think that the running gear is worn out - and it will be tired at least should it have been raced - then you can pretty much write most of it's value off:
Tired 5500 group: £75
Tired wheels: £80
Finishing kit: who cares, unless the stem is ti, which it probably isn't.
Frame: £250 tops. Maybe a bit more if the headtube will take 1 1/8th and the BB is BSA. -

Id be very suprised if that ht is 1-1/8.
Its not worth or even close to what he is asking imo.Edit: Howards breakdown seem reasonable tho i wouldent pay 250 for that frame.

I measured the headset that used to be in (recently), it was 1 1/8 inch. Now there's a faulty 1 inch mounted.
Is there a third option for diameter? Could the 1 1/8 one also have been wrong size?

I'd say £350... the new owner will easily get fifty quid back selling the excess spacers for scrap.

So I'm moving down to London and I think I'm going to have to part with My 1973 Bob Jackson Messina.
Nice metallic paint with drilled Prugnaut lugs, Campag dropouts. Nice parts are Campagnolo Grand Tour / Super Record. Cinelli Bar and stem. Dura-ace Brake levers to Shimano 600 Brakes.
Heres the photo from when I bought it. Now has hoods on the levers, Brooks bar tape and a rolls saddle.

What do you think, 400 quid?

I received quite a bit of interest from people interested in buying/restoring this bike when I put this post up here earlier this year... I held on to it with the intention of doing something with it - but I haven't - and so, it would be much better in the hands of somebody who will bring it back to life...
Now on Ebay:Don't advertise links to your ebay stuff on LFGSS, see rules<<<

Pacer?
-
• #1400
Yep, its a pacer, should've mentioned that i suppose.
I found a used titanium bike for sale, but I have only a vague of what a fair price is. Help appreciated!
Seller thinks the frame it is from 2001, unknown brand, "Litespeed" are just stickers. Welds seems good?
The rest of the components are mostly run down, so they should not be a very large factor. I realize geography will play a part, lets forget that for a moment, but bike is in Sweden.
