Just gone onto my needs list - maybe not this design but love the idea. Mechanical with electronic regulation. Go nicely with F300s and Timex Electric as hybrids

How weird is that!? Just last night I was thinking - has anyone ever made an automatic, mechanically powered watch with quartz accuracy regualtion and bam! There is the answer, without even asking the question... Fair play Seiko.

My first mechanical watch, a slightly battered Seiko 5 with 6309 movement acquired for pittance on ebay. Timekeeping so far has been hilarious, it seems to gain around 10s over the course of the day, but loses around the same overnight (left with the crown up). At the moment it is on the bracelet from an old casio digital, but I have a brown leather nato on the way, which I hope will dress it down a bit for a more casual look.

What's the number stamped into the case on the back? Not the movement number but the individual number. If it's gaining time 10 seconds over 24 hours isn't too bad - with a service (unless you know otherwise it's likely it hasn't been serviced for a very long time) you'd expect to see it gain 3 or 4 seconds a day as a rough guide.

102645, which I believe dates it to Oct 1981. I was contemplating a service, but I suspect it would cost more than the watch is worth. Provided I can regulate it overnight I may just leave it be.

Is it wrong to like this ?
Think you might struggle to find a strap tbh.

Not if you go for the Flava Flav line of timepiece accessories....

Quick straw poll if I may.
Alsal have a spare Junghans bracelet for the Max Bill. I've got mine on a lizard skin strap at the moment but quite like mesh.
What do you ladies and chaps think of the chrono on mesh? I fear it might be a bit ott...

I just received this for a few quid from ebay, it's scratched and scuffed and the second hand wasn't passing the hour hand due to some heavy gimp working on it, but 30 minutes later (I assume, I couldn't tell the time) and I'd stripped it out of it's case, re-positioned the hands correctly and it's been running just fine for the last few hours.
'Will it keep time adequately?' I've never owned a wind up watch, and haven't worn any watch for about 15 years so it's time keeping is of secondary concern. 'Will I remember to wind it?' is more appropriate.

No. Not at all.
My friend has this:

It looks nice in real life and the second hand has a smooth sweeping movement which I like.

Absolutely worthless on the second hand market . I couldn't give that away to any of my clients .

The ebay watch balanced on the chocolate bunny above was running pretty fast, it had gained a couple of minutes in 24 hours so I took it apart and had a rummage in it's guts. After a bit of internetting I discovered how to regulate the watch (most cheap and cheerful mechanical watches seem to share the same innards, almost as if they've come from the same factory) and it's pretty easy to see how to make an adjustment. After a bit more jiggling I've got the error down to less than 10 seconds over 24 hours which I'm quite pleased with. I also neatly bonded the glass into position and gave it a really good clean. There's a spot of old glue on the glass (from the previous owner) that I'm loathe to remove as it may leave a mark but it's not too noticeable.
Nice. Wonder who it was made by. Looks a little like a Buren or Hamilton.
