Oguchi Onyewu, and Damiano Tommasi have both done the same while playing in Italy. Tommasi I think was out for a long time with a pretty bad injury, and asked to be allowed back on a youth team salary while he worked his way back to fitness. Still a nice gesture though I suppose.
In other nice gesture news, it was good to see David Moyes calling for retrospective bans for diving after his own player blatantly dived. Normally it's the other way round, so to have someone speak out against it when you don't necessarily expect them to is always welcome.
