It is the case, Planned obsolescence in software, my girlfriend also complaining about the 4 starting to feel slow.

I found out the hard way with the 3, couldn't afford an upgrade and did what Ben's doing.

Mine feels frustratingly slow, but I put this down to me getting more and more used to my electronic devises feeling fast, ergo making the 4 feel sluggish by comparison
