Yossarian - I'd love to do that 240 with you. probably more of a leave pass than I could swing.
Will be trying to angle for the tour of hills though I think.
^ Snap.
Looking at the 'Tour of the Hills' no gpx file, wanted to get an idea of the elevation over the ride. Being a bit of a wuss.
It's 100km..... If you can ride 60 miles in the surrey hills, then you can ride 60 miles in the surrey hills. just enter and take a gel with you in case of bonkitis.
also, the gpx is at the bottom of the page.

They look all the same squished up like this but hope it's of some use
The last one is a ball buster if I remember correctly! But it's a lovely route

Looks like a great route.

Yeah.... so I might have been a little hasty. That tour of the hills is a tough arse ride.

First Audax today, The Tour of the Hills. I have ridden all these hills before, but to put them all in one was an experience !!! Still, I would do this and another Audax again

^Were you the fella on the [awesome] Klein by any chance?
Seeing zanda stroll up coombe lane in the big ring whilst I was in my lowest gear really set the scene for todays ride!
Rode there and back to make ~230km and I am knackered...
-
• #1883
Yes, I was on the Klein with the other one following behind !!! Thanks for the compliment, it doesn't happen often, but the other one, constant constant noise about the paint job !!!
Where do you live to do 230ks?
-
• #1885
Can't do any audax ride due to work, boo.
-
• #1886
I did see your brevet card at the start :(
Really had to drag myself out of bed this morning, was tired and already overslept but knew I'd regret it if I just stayed home...
-
• #1887
Cool! Was good to meet you :) Yeah I saw the other from a mile off haha, but when I saw yours up close it was lovely. Have you got any pics?

The Summer Knows: 100km around the Lincolnshire Wolds:
http://connect.garmin.com/activity/361440667
Some gorgeous lanes, lumpy but not properly hilly, and two fords to boot. Plus, bonus, almost two snakes, too (the first was in kit form, presumably after some unfortunate snake/vehicle interface); the second was slithering across the road, presumably basking on the tarmac.
I was doing fine for the first 50miles, but thereafter was a struggle. Still, good route, enjoyable ride, and I'll be back next year...

I was there about a month ago and rode from Barnetby to Market Rasen, and though how lovely (and quiet it was)

Yes, gloriously quiet, and fantastic views, too. There were also some great 'tunnel of trees' moments, was just a really lovely ride :-)

Just been doing my packing for Super Brevet Scandinavia (on of the 1200s). All of a sudden it looks really scary and up close.
I know I should be OK on it but all of a sudden I'm finding little shit to worry about when I should be sleep banking. Not usual for me, but then, neither is a big ride in three countries I've never been to before.
I'm a little bit Jealous TSK. the scenery will be epic
just remember that even in summer the fjords are ice cold, so wind coming off the fjords is also Ice cold.
pack a good technical windbreak and some good gloves. -

Doing the Chris Negus Audax next weekend!
Going to bite the bullet and get a proper GPS. Using my phone is not working out on long rides. Is the Garmin eTrex 20 the one to get then?
-
• #1893
I got the eTrex 20 earlier this year for audaxes and longer rides. Took a little while to get to know it but does the job nicely.
Anyone doing the London Sightseer this Sunday? http://www.aukweb.net/events/detail/13-559/ … in two minds about it.

• #1894
Working weekends mean no more audax.
-
• #1895
^^ I'll be doing it. Route will be pretty slow but should be a nice ride.
-
• #1896
In - I'm free on Sunday and the weather looks reasonable. Just paid the fees on paypal - so this will be my first official audax!

For those interested in PBP, this is a recent message from the head of ACP.
I would like to thank you one more time for another great BRM season. We
are not yet at the end but the results are already very good. It will be
the second or the third season for the number of homologations with more
than 36000 homologated brevets outside France.Of course, 2013 will stay forever as a sad year with the passing of
Robert Lepertel, creator of the BRM outside France in 1976 and first
president of the Randonneurs Mondiaux in 1983, a towering figure in the
sport of randonneuring. For 2014, the Audax Club Parisien will create
brevet cards dedicated to Bob.It was also a sad year for some of our BRM organizers. The Audax Club
Parisien thanks them all for all they have done to spread the
randonneuring ethos.2013 was also a great year with several new ACP representatives
implementing BRM in their country. We were pleased to welcome in 2013
Belarus, Thailand, United Arab Emirates, Colombia and some others are
closed to join us soon.We have now to work on our calendar for 2014. You have to know that we
will use the BRM validated in 2014 for the preregistration for PBP 2015,
as we did in 2011 (the longest you rode in 2014, the soonest you can
preregister). However, there won’t be quotas per country, only a global
number of entries. In 2011, we had many available places. It should be
the same in 2015 but we have to prevent ourselves from a too large
demand. There is no maximum decided yet but it could be from 6000 to
6500 riders, roughly 1000 more than the numbers of riders in 2011. About
PBP, we are still uncertain for the date of the event in 2015. It will
be held on August 16th to 20th or 23th to 27th. A decision will be taken
in January 2014.Best regards,
Jean-Gualbert FABUREL

Well I rode the 'London Sightseer' today - was pretty awesome. Nice route, not very hilly at all - weather was bearable most of the day. Managed to get quite a bit round before the downpour. The route back goes through Fulham about 1/2 mile from my place, so was very tempted to call it a day. But then the rain stopped again, and I blasted it to Richmond Park. When I got there the duathlon was finishing. So I was told I could not cycle to Ham gate using the usual route. So I was forced to go the long way round, adding a couple of extra miles plus the big hill I hate.
Well organised and good company on the ride. Mostly not fast, due to the route plus the conditions. An audax worth doing, highly recommended.
Legs are in recovery - looks like a Brompton day tomorrow!

Was definitely considering the Chris Negus memorial this weekend after KT mentioning it, but it's open house london the same weekend :(
Have had an audax/cycling dry spell, need to get back on the bike and lose some of this food/beer!

.....a recent message from the head of ACP.
I guess this always comes up, re: the number of places.
Is the pre-reg first come first served as implied?
so if you bang out qualification in week 1, 2014..... you're guaranteed a spot?
