  • Magic gear / single half link

  • ...cost a lot of money, and aren't as good a solution as buying a frame with horizontal dropouts.

It does give you a wider choice of frames to choose from than just the typical track one, and the rare minority of a decent road fixed frame.

  • Magic gear / single half link

    Magic-ish gear, single 1/2link & file/hacksaw also works well

  • "Just brought this, collecting it tonight turning it into fixed over the next couple of weeks, what you think!"

As mentioned above, it can be tricky to get the chain tension right with your rear hub fixed in a set position, but providing you can find the magic gear, possible using a single half-link, I see no reason why this bike wouldn't make a fine conversion.

It will be a lot of fun, and a great experience. Enjoy it and do keep us posted :)

    Fixed.

  • Bodger.

  • True fact

  • Very enlightening, thanks.

  • So I built this a couple of weeks ago, just got round to taking crappy iphone picture. Will take a better set of photos soon. It's very nice to ride.

Sram Rival, Shimano long drops, dura ace hubs, mavic cd rims, Deda finishing kit, mudguards I've had in a cupboard for years (bit wonky), Specialized Romin saddle, Speedplays etc etc.

  • Lovely, I was thinking of something similar but SS for this winter, my brooklyn may end up going that way now that it doesn't like bigger tyres much.

  • Carlton Flyer Beater-work in progress.

Picked this up a few months ago and am just getting round to building it up. Am going to keep as found, just try and prevent it getting rustier, and have removed some old tri bars and changed the bar tape to red cloth.

Just going to change the wheels for some clinchers, as riding vintage harden/chater lea tubs around town seems like asking for trouble. The knackered deep V is just for now, as is the front tub.

Only problem is the s is totally stuck, have tried everything but it won't budge. Have decided to leave it at this height for now rather than risk the forks trying to remove it. Any ideas to be it let me know

And reverted back to what is probably the better build with the black post and saddle.

  • great page so far! Loving the Rourke especially, and the RHP

  • Rourke looks tremendous

  • I've been handed a "fake" 650c Harry Quinn (may be a Townsend). How crazy would it to put a 700c on the back, a 650c on the front and some risers and ride it fixed? Winter bike? Anyone got pics of similar incarnations? Means I could void problems of trying to find brakes to fit 700c on a 650c frame.

    This. 631 or 853?

  • It's 631 - I would have chosen 853 if it was made for me but I bought it nearly new on eBay for complete steal. Not quite sure how i managed that.

  • Thanks for all the kind words :)

It's a bit of a tank compared to my bmc but it's rolls really nicely and handles beautifully.

  • Its super tasty

    How long is that stem?

    edging towards trex :p

  • I just bought an old Carrera Very similar do you have any info on them? my dropouts look like the red ones, short campagnolo style after some dicking about was perfect fixed conversion

  • edging towards trex :p

Wouldn't it be the very opposite?
