Is there any way of knowing how many of the 127 investors are not "on here"? It would indicate external, and unemotional, decisions made to back the project.

I have no way of knowing at this point.
The anonymous ones are anonymous, and until I get the shareholder agreement document I can't see who they are.
Also, I cannot always identify people as I don't know a lot of your real names.
Once I have that document I'll see if I can produce a half accurate guess.

What was the not on here to on here ratio for the initial investment?
-
• #780
Ballpark of 70/30. The 70 being on here.

So if there is a higher ratio of off here in the current round then that may suggest wider understanding support ...
... or not because much of the promotion of microcosm is done on here -

You're trying to read more into it than there may be.
Put it like this, a VC sat in a meeting room with Matt and I this morning, and didn't know about the Seedrs raise, nor this forum. He asked us, "What can I do, how can I help?". As in, can you open the goddamn door and let me in.
He's a lovely guy, and in 3-6 months when we've done all of the engagement stuff, got a few more sites launched, and are happy to start focusing on growth... he's already indicated he'll be there with another VC, to help out.
VCs are fickle people. I take far more from that meeting, that showed commitment and support, than divination into things I can't read into such as the stats behind the Seedrs raise. Maybe the investors are Greek and just like that we chose a company name that stemmed from an Ancient Greek word?

Perhaps
though I suppose some of us may have the perception that the buzz and support about microcosm may be due to being on here and, regular forum users who get it though we may not be canniest of investors (I've never invested in anything before apart from isas)

Isas sounds fun. If I get in early before they are cool will I make it big?
-
• #785
You should try tesas too. Even more fum than isas

Tessa's.

I'm loosing the plot :)

What is it with that word?

My dad says it's just as important to have belief in the team and their leader as in the product. We all have a belief in David and his team, which is hard to justify or quantity. Whether it's hype or not, Microcosm raised £100,000 in under 3 hours from basically his client base.

He's been using a text-based form of NLP throughout the forum to brainwash you all.

So how do you get on their radar then? Word of mouth through advisors/other VCs?

That was a recommendation and intro from another founder we know who thinks what we're doing will change the world.
I actually think what he's doing will change the world too, he's working on social network for the family, a way to keep baby pictures off Facebook and help families stay close through life. A long-play, but really interesting.

That's going to show up on his stats and freak him out now.
-

click-click - sounds an interesting site, I've been busy keeping baby photos off of the web, and I think managing so far, people have been very good about not stuffing them onto facebooks so far.
Google has seen them via gmail, but I think that's about it...
Its also an interesting idea, as I don't want my family as facebook friends to a large extent, so there's a place for both.

Interesting. I've just set up a page on my wordpress site that is password protected and not indexed by google. Doesn't stop anyone that really wants to find them, but it should keep randoms out at least. This site would've solved that better.

I don't love the name but I can see this site doing really well. The timing's right at least. Facebook's privacy settings are not for the computer illiterati plus FB and social media in general keep hitting the news for the wrong reasons.Interesting how at one time it was all about how many 'friends' you could accrue on social media sites, but now perhaps the pendulum is swinging the other way. Or maybe I'm just old and bored of seeing updates from people I actually couldn't give a flying f**k about.
Would make sense - they don't want an investment that has fallen through to be replaced by one that might fall through...
