Have you met Owenreed? He barely weighs anything. He also enjoyed having this happen:

Owenreed can break a bike by looking at it. Didn't he ride that bike in to a wall before that?

I recently went through a bunch of articles on factory recalls etc from forks snapping. They rarely ever snap because of actual rider load over the cockpit etc but from hitting stuff front on developing micro cracks that widen over time. And also being scuffed around in travel bags packed wrong so taking the fork out of the frame when travelling helps

I have ridden fucking miles cross country/on towpaths/down steps on the mega sketchy carbon steerer'd forks you sold me, and they're still holding up. I do think about them every time I travel quicker than 25mph though...

Saadat, how heavy is your beard?
Do you think when in an aero position the extra weight over the front wheel means your forks are under more stress? do you run higher PSI in the front tyre?
Please expand.
Beard is heavy as fuck but I run alloy forks so it's OK. Very un-aero. Mega drag all the time.
nh, your post is pointless.
You're arguing over full carbon versus alloy steerer.
Mechamorgan said he's not bothered because he's really light, I was showing an example of when a really light person's full carbon forks snapped.

Fair point, no wall interaction, but that bike was absued.

To be fair, the leg has a nick, which I wouldn't be worried about either. The steerer is the silent killer.

photo is out of context, god knows what was happening with the bike before, not enve, let alone how old it is. this, and also giant never had their forks right

especially as that bike is a crash test bike.

On that basis let's never use anecdotal examples again. EVER

Shame that the columbus tusk carbons are 45 degree rake, as they have a nice chunky aero look about them.
