Just how tight? looking at the photo, it look like there's enough room for a mudguard.
There is with 32's but wouldn't be with anything bigger

my hardshells were 28s, ordered 32c paselas as not sure I'll have guard clearance for any bigger....

that does look gorgeous. I should just do the decent thing and change my too small equilibrium for one. Do you find the tires draggy on the road, as I dont suspect I will be doing too much canal work.

I like them, they're very stable, like rolling on rails. Not to high friction either.
Also thanks to the soft size walls they're much better at soaking up road noise than something like marathons, which i found to be very uncomfortable.

What's difference with Panaracer Pasela PT City Wire Bead Tyre and tour guard?
I phoned them up about that when I was working at CS, apparently the PT is a new kind of puncture protection they've brought in to replace the TG, which is supposed to be even more puncture resistant.
I used to have them on my old Holdsworth road bike, I was a big fan.

Is the head tube on the new one standard 1 1/8"?

Not sure I understand where that bike is supposed to fit in now. The CdF/Croix De Fer are essentially commuting/light touring bikes and 931 is going to make an all ready fairly expensive bike for what you get, even more expensive.
They should have just stuck with the line up they had. They've all ready introduced that 853 'proper cross' bike. This seems unnecessary.

I guess it depends how many they've made and how much its cost them. It might be there as a marketing tool to promote the cheaper CDFs.
Although Co's usually use that technique with an inappropriate mid-point product not a top end.

ipad ipad mini maxipad mini ipod mac macbook pro etc etc
there's always room to squeeze in new products. someone will buy it.

Ha. True but I'm not sure Genisis enjoy quite the same economies of scale The Evil Empire does.

Ha maxipad. I guess so, and yeah, what Hugo said. Theyre obviously doing well enough to build it though!

They should have a least put better components on it maybe ultegra of something, better wheels too.

It still fit in the CX catalogue.
My 520 54cm frame weight at over 2.2kg, right now it weight 11kg despite it's lightweight wheelset and decent component, but still feel a bit sluggish, the standard tubing felt numb compare to my 853.

I've been really enjoying this bike, I'm dropping this off tonight get the mudguards sorted, breaks and gears tweeked now the cables have been bedded in and 120 degree noodles fitted (thanks again to DJ).
I also need to sort out a little problem with lawyers lips on the forks. they dont let the mount for the rack sit flush. Should I file off the lips or reshape the mount?

breaks and gears tweeked now the housing have been bedded in..
ftfy.
Do not file off lawyers lips - they're there to prevent the wheel ejecting from the fork under the force of the disc brake, put a shim on if necessary./

no opinion on the filing though?
-
• #269
Big no-no on the filing.
-
• #270
change the mounts then?
-
• #271
Couple of washers betwixt mount and eyelet should do the job, shouldn't it? Maybe a longer bolt too. Or a little ali spacer if you have a lathe. And everyone should have a lathe.
-
• #272
file them
-
• #273
Don't file them!
-
• #274
Mudguards fitted, the clearance is bonkers tight with 32's, I just need to put the mudflap on. Looks great though, i'll take some photos this weekend.

Commuted on my Badman this morning for the first time since swapping to the 32c Paselas and it rides so nice, running them at 70psi and they're noticeably more comfortable than the 28c hardshells at 80psi, and don't seem to be draggy at all.
TM approved
Depend on your rims width.
If it's very wide - 35mm definitely, otherwise it'll feel like crap.
