• I'm looking for a little forum advice here, my lo-pro bucked me off pretty recently when i was starting to apply a little torque through the drive while climbing a fairly small hill, I'd just got out of the saddle and the drivetrain fully skipped, the chain jumped & i ended up with some fairly tasty road rash. as well as a nicely bruised ego

I got the bike in the stand today and looked over the drive train, i was assuming i would just realise my drivetrain was just worn and needs replacing, but the chainrings don't seem that badly worn? neither do either of them seem bent to the eye if i look down them in line with the drive.

I took the bike for a casual spin around the block, again shifting seemed fine but I soon noticed a strange clicking noise. back in the stand and a closer look revealed this..

in the stand, (Im guessing this is because i cant put the same torque through the drive with no resistance) it makes no ticking noise and definitely no chain skip but if i run the drive in reverse it occasionaly makes the chain miss teeth like this:

Im assuming this is the cause of the chain jump that bucked me off and a new chain may solve the issue but would this have happened because of the broken link or could the broken link be a result of some other problem within the drive? would i be best of changing the chain or going for a full drive train update?
