  • Unfortunately the OP of that thread succumbed to exhaustion.

  • Sorry for their loss :-(

    That's terrible...

  • I want a big brass watch but I'm not willing to give my life for it.

Besides, I've decided to spend some money on bikes for a change.

    Do Panerai make bikes?

  • If they do they'd be big and ugly...

  • ... Shuddup the lot of you...

  • Dunhill Facet is back and has gone upmarket with JLC movements.

I remember them being hugely popular/affordable around 2000

Any love for them or quirky Dunhill timepieces in general?

  • I think I've seen a few but wondered about their history/ watch authenticity.

    Worth it?

  • Can any of the watch boffins on here tell me what my watch means by 'adjusted to five positions' please? It's written in the movement after it says 'twenty-eight jewels'.

  • When you simply regulate a watch, ie. set the rate such that it is as close as possible to +/- 0s per day, you will find that the rate actually alters depending on the orientation of the watch, eg. crown pointing up, crown pointing down, etc.

So, on fancy watches, they adjust the movements to minimise these variances in different positions, and you end up with a watch which keeps really consistent time.

Yes, along with their fragrance from BITD.

    Thank you.

So far I think it's consistently gaining about a second a day. Which I think is ok for an automatic isn't it?

That was only when it left the factory / workshop so pretty meaningless today.

However your recent post at +1 sec is very good and watches should always gain - never lose.

  • For Valjoux 7750 movements there are three different levels of movements

    Elabor: adjusted in 3 positions
    Top/Chrono: Adjusted in 5 positions

It's a similar case for ETA 2xxx movements

  • Thank you.

A second a day is excellent. If you want more accurate go quartz, but then you will only go to hell.

  • I think within 5s a day is great for a mechanical watch, especially if it's an older watch.

    ^ Needs fixed bars.

  • Nice font!

  • Nice font!

Looks like they've stolen the font straight from Richard Mille.... (excuse the ugly watch!):

  • ^ Paging CB!

  • Fuck me thats gross.

  • Yeah

    But noooo

  • Nice microsite about the Seiko 5 range:

It's 50 years old this year.

  • Yum. GMT + PR. I've been eyeing that Schofield since it's launch at Salon QP in 2011. Also quite intrigued to see what the new Blacklamp is going to be.
