Has anyone used etsy?
I know you can't sell bike stuff on it, but for opening a shop it maybe better?
Still need Paypal though...

A couple of months ago i won a huge collection of records for £40 on ebay and the seller was clearly gutted, i waited around 10 days for him to respond to my messages but got nothing so reported it to the "resolutions" team. they came back with a pile of steamy shmit as it was a cash upon collection offer and i hadn't sent any money. salt in the wound as he sold the collection individually

Try and always go with people with a reputation above 10-20. No bad sales / purchases yet.

Dunno, it's a reseller for people who don't speak English (which in Japan is a lot of people).

I've sold a couple of things through them. They deal when the seller ie me, will not post outside the UK. They are quick with feedback and as an independant intermediary stop the eventual buyer scamming.

The biggest frustration is perhaps that there is no opening in ebay's stone walls at all. Example:
A buyer won't pay for the item he won. I sent a couple of kind, neutral messages after having sent the invoice, to which there was no response whatsoever either.
So then I opened an unpaid item case. Having seen in his feedback that this non paying 'buyer' successfully bought more items since he decided not to pay me, I thought he might have the common decency to at least answer ebay's messages. This was not the case.
So I stupidly chose another formal ebay option: cancel the transaction. So now I am in a sort of catch-22 where the case again awaits the buyer's response (which won't come) and I can't do anything in the meantime, there seems to be no way to end this procedure.
I just want to close the case but this seems impossible. And every time I try to find some guide/help/how to close the case or contact ebay to have this resolved, I get caught in a loop.
Aaaarrrgggh! Computer is lucky the windows won't open in this room...

^ I think it relates to buying more than selling but I always prefer using Paypal for disputes as they don't have the bat shit stupid timescales ebay do.
EG. Recently bought an HS33 brake, didn't get marked as dispatched after the 3 days the seller stated he'd send within so I contact him, no reply. After a week, still not marked dispatched and still not received. Try to open case in Ebay, they want me to wait something like 3 weeks until i can open an item not received case!
Fuck that, Paypal, opened.
Still no communication from seller but a few days later the brake arrives - without the proprietary quick release bolt. Change case on paypal to item not as described - it was described as 'complete' - and a few days later I receive a full refund.
Looking at sellers feedback - should have done this before buying really - it seems makes a semi regular habit of selling then ignoring. Still, I have a brand spankers HS33 that cost me £2 for the QR bolt.

^Ebay don't give a shit.
I really don't see the value in selling anything on ebay now as a private seller.
And the increase in sellers' fees must surely, ultimately, increase the cost to buyers on items.
The scam described on the first post was recently attempted on me, with a bed which they fucking collected themselves in a van. Auction ended they paid immediately through paypal and arranged to collect.
All smiles and thanks for giving them a bargain etc
Few days later they attempted charge back as item not as described, sold though my wifes account she didn't read emails from ebay and only realised when she tried to pay for something.
Ebay were pretty good to be honest, as my wife had missed the initial emails I thought the money was lost.
We disputed the reversal and contacted ebay who gave the buyer a deadline to return the item (at their cost) or we were paid the cash. He didn't respond so we got the cash.
