Rodolfo I've those are the ones ^ you're looking for I might have some, have to check in the drawer. Also my frame (same seller) was fully integrated 45/36.
Next question,
I've just picked up this frame:
Unfortunately it's italian threaded, and I'm using Sram Omniums. Can I fit this bottom bracket?
http://www.forpassionateriders.nl/shop/race/trapas-cups/sram-gxp-race-trapas-cups-ita/Ha! I saw that on marktplaats. Too bad it was too small for me. Please hhsb

Hehe it's perfect sized for me, 59ct 56,5tt! T-rex..
Don't worry about the build ;)
Drivetrain will be DA77xx hubs to Kinlin rims, Omniums and a Silver Zen.
For the rest I'm thinking of Zipp Course SL. -

I got Probrem!
So, I am based in super correct Switzerland now and just got stopped by a bike courrier telling me that If I get caught with my bike (fixed with front brake) i will have to pay 950 swiss francs plus fight a legal case of unknown proportions....too rich for my blood.
It is all quite stupid especially because the law in question defines a brake as a "permanent fixture" on the bike (which the chain is). In Germany it is exactly the same...some guy appealed in court when he got fined, won...done. But not over here....no chance. So i need to commit sacrilege and but a second brake on my bike. It's not drilled. And I dont want to do that.
There are two options
- dia compe adapter and rear brake
- sturmy archer two gear kick back hub with internal brake.
Since the bike looks quite clean and 70's I don't really want to go down either road.
So my idea was to build an adapter plate and put a second brake behind/underneath the bb. The question is if anybody has ever done this before...I am not too worried about brake performance as long as it does not fall off when the police checks it I am happy.
From what I can see I need quite a short reach brake. I might have a clb somewhere that goes down to 39mm so this will be my starting point.
Any suggestions?
The bike in question:

just get a cheapo coaster brake wheel if you're worried

Been trying to decide what to do with this frame for a while. It's pretty ratty, and smaller than I normally ride too but I really want to ride it all the same, it's too funky to just let go straight away.
So after mulling it over a while the current idea is to put on some spare Shimano 105 wheels and run it singlespeed. So questions are: those singlespeed kits, do they offer multiple chainlines - some look like they do others I'm not so sure of. Is there a best one? Should I bother with a chain tensioner or stick in an old derailleur? Intent is afterall to stay pretty ratty. Is the singlespeed kit even worth it if I can simply rearange the existing cogs around to put the one I want in line with the cranks?
Rest of the parts to come I'm thinking, Mutant, Modolo Q-Even, and old Shimano parts, nothing i'll miss.
I know what i'd do; 1x 8/9 gearing, risers and front a rack. super street sled

Maybe just tilt the bars up a bit so the ends point at the rear brake bridge though. -

Changed the ugly Vitus seatpost for a really not any better Campagnolo one. Planning on a shiny Shimano 600/6400 eventually if I stick with the silver theme (rather than say, black).
Tyres and bar tape:
And pics this morning - admittedly crappy, I hate taking bike photos.
So uh if anyone was in any doubt, yes the frame is very, very bright.

Hands down one of the coolest frames I've ever seen. Great size too.
I think CD open pros or similar would suit it nicely.

Right I want to buy some brake levers and canti/mini v brakes
I had the idea of buying Trp rrl brake levers and TRP cx 9 mini v brakes - the cx9's are 70 quid at planet x.
But is there an option that's as good for a bit cheaper - thinking sub 45quid - cheap is good, so that I can get the Nature boy up and running quicker than expected.
And would these levers work with canti/mini v brakes?
Just my 2p but I would avoid canti's. I've heard all the pros, but ultimately for me they're just a retro fad. I haven't used mini-vs but I have recently set up a pair of deore V-brakes and it made me realise how ridiculous canti's actually are.
I have/had tekro 720/520s. From my Internet research they were the best price point canti at the time. Once set up they worked well and I'm sure they'd be even better with SwissStop pads.
If its a pure CX bike then I get the clearance canti's provide may be worth it. But equally if you're after a pure cx bike how sophisticated do you need your braking to be?
If I could go back I'd buy v-brake compatible levers and v-brakes. I almost did, but I wanted the retro looks of canti's and bought into all the tosh you read on the net about canti's modulation. So if you can get on with the shape of the v-compatible levers that's what I'd do. If not I'd go for mini-v's, also a lot of people report that they better with carbon forks if you end up switching later.
If you want a pair of v-brakes I've got some new, boxed deore LX (I think). Happy to let them go for cheap.

Yeah on the one hand those DP18s with colour matched stickers seem too good a chance to miss out on.
On the other hand plan A was what you mention and to that end I've also a pair of the older Open SUP CD ceramics, raring to go (and a pair of Mavic 520 hubs to fit them on). That was the original plan, I think they'd look amazing with the black/pink tyres and this frame.
If the mavic combo doesn't go on the Gautheron then it'll be the wheel build for the Mecacycle most likely -
I've got some lovely Cambio Rino aero pedals I'm thinking of putting on those cranks this afternoon.
-
• #81874
Just noticed the bar tape choice, I have it on my road bike and it's really comfortable as well as looking great.
I think then you should put the open pros on the Meacycle and sell me the Gautheron...

Got to be the older DP18's with the matching stickers, they're awesome on that.
:O Take that back!
