Banned tickling under the arms.

:).
I mean the left position you can be way more dangerous than in the left one no?
-
• #2029
I cant see why the right part your illustration is ban John, what's the difference?
Because the arm is bent more than 90 degrees (outwards).
The idea is to stop people pushing each other (much easier when you can straight-arm someone)

What about the fact that this stupid mallet to the face created a huge delay. I would be pissed of if opponents delay a game I'm playing in because they think they don't need face cage. I would say play 2-3, that's you responsibility from A to Z, especially in the case of a friendly fire.

You have to remember, the rules come from a place where some people consider it a great move to put someone over the boards
I assumed that this was the reason behind it all. Why do rules get decided in North America and then Europe and the rest of the world follow suit? Are there more teams in NA than Europe? Are they better organised? Or are Euro players/organisers more deferent to the originators and superstars?
What polo needs is a good, decisive split. Yanks can have their meathead, 'my fokkin ball' bike hockey and we'll have our double-goalie, blocky bike ballet. Everyone's a loser!

This was exactly the clarification I was asking, thanks guys. It is fairly ambiguous but I see the reasoning behind it as it's from an NAH perspective.
I may keep telling Melburn that you're only allowed to use shoulders ;)
I still don't see the need for the right to bear arms.

Was it true that kid was the guy from modified's son?
I didn't see that mallet to the face, it caused a break in the game?!
-
• #2034
It was one of your northern mates. Hebden? I rode into him with my arm at 90 degrees (legal), no extension beyond that, IIRCWIMN. I wouldn't do that to Kropa. And I didn't dispute the ref's decision, I just stated, correctly, that it was wrong.
Was it me that was reffing? I defo called you for a push, your arm was less than 90degrees before the push that much is true :).
I like the physicality that America brings to this sport, but the rules do need finessing that's for certain.

Cage up or shut up. Why wouldn't you wear a face cage? Mallets are swung around, shit happens.
-
• #2036
The right to check is taken as seriously as the right to bear arms.
Checking is fine, as long as elbows are tucked in.

Now we're back to blaming victims, can I put my spare cogs back on? Thanks.

The guy who avoid koyo shot is from Portland United, the team into the guy who get his shine lovely openend lately on the tournament play on. Man im pretty sure this is a scenario from Final Destination 9

it looks to me that his elbow is tucked in, his tray table is folded and his seat back is upright. He got the jump on the space, someone has to have an advantage. If it had been a defensive block, nobody would remember it. Its only cause he creates the space and scores that we care. I've seen way, way worse moves. The fact that there is endless debate stepping either side of a 49 / 50 % line of "was it ok?" to me suggests, it was rad. And jono is right, better bike handlers stay up and tend not to be given a foul.
Riding over mallets is in the same ball park. The amount of times i see a sub par player ride over a lone mallet on the floor, slip then claim they were malleted when there was no player on the end of it. They should have been able to stay on the bike, wave it off. -

That's a pretty ridiculous thing to say. You would be happy to ignore someone getting a mallet to the face in order to carry on your game of bike polo without knowing if he was ok?!? Bullshit

Haha. Well said.

I guess it comes down to competitiveness (if that's even a word).

I think its competitivenessosity.

I didn't say we shouldn't stop the game for checking people heath. But when it's done game should restart ASAP.
Im Just sayin' than gettin' huge delay because of people thinking they are good enough to ride and play without face cage is bullshit. If you think you can play without protecting gear, then you should assume the fact that the game can continue whitout you if you get hurt in a way that can be avoided easily.
Anyway, all that for saying that people should wear face cages.

Mallet-to-body is illegal. If you get hit in the face (or cage) then you should get a ball turnover in your favour (minimum).
Face cages have nothing to do with it?
-
• #2047
exactly, dont high stick and then you wont be called for making a dick move and hitting someone in the face. The easiest way to avoid being malleted in the face is for people not to do it. That said, face cages are a good thing
-
• #2048
the guys in the vid were on the same team though, right? so it's not a turn over, he just smacked his team mate in the kisser and now has to play with one man down until the other guy sorts himself out.
-
• #2049
No foul if you're on the same team... keep playing, HTFU, etc.

It's not so simple as that though. The ruling at the NAHBPC was anything on the backswing, or followthrough, is fair game, and the person getting hit in the face, would be at fault.
Basically that wasn't in the rules, but a tournament specific clarification of §7.2.1.2 – The mallet is brought into contact with an opposing player’s body above the level
of the shoulders.
