  • Just out of curiosity did you work your way through the Sheldon 14pt List systematically? It's always the best way.*

Just on the hacksaw method. I found it easier to use a jigsaw if you have access to one. It means you can stick the blade down the tube gently and cut it towards the seat tube. As you get to the last bit get an old screwdriver, sharpen it and then cut into the last bit of the seatpost. If that makes sense.

In terms of heat, you can sometimes bodge this yourself with lots of ice followed by pouring boiling water over.

*(sorry if that comes across as a bit I told you so)

As I think I mentioned elsewhere, rather than systematically going through the 14 methods, which I would have tried if I had time, I went straight for the sawing method after twisting failed, as I wanted something as foolproof as it gets with regards to seatpost removal. The sharpened screwdriver idea is really good, should have tried that for the tricky last bits.

You could just get someone (Roboto?) to vectorise the Donohue logo and cut you some vinyl? Cheap and cheerful.

Not sure about orange, is it flat orange or you getting metallic clear coat? what colour decals? Purple?

I may call on Roboto's services again, not sure what colour though. The orange is hopefully quite a dark, burnt orange kind of colour, it's a gloss powder so it might be a bit shiny, but with no lacquer.
