You're right Branwen. I definitely don't want to put my phone on my bike. Battery would be dead in 45 minutes and, like you said, it'll get wet and break. I guess I'm thinking of future products (among them the rumoured iWatch) along the same lines as the Wahoo RFLKT, a low energy device whose screen mirrors your smartphone which hides in your jersey pocket collecting all the sensor data and bluetooth beaming it to the cycle computer. I'm just not convinced by the features of the RFLKT hence dithering once again over forking out for a Garmin.
