*This reminds me a bit of the M25 ride Corlis organised:
http://www.lfgss.com/thread70039.htmlThat was more fun that it sounds.*
Somebody cough needs to redo this one. Sound like unfinished business to me.. ?
Yup, this one was kind of a legend when I joined the forum last year. Would love to give it a go.

Let's make the next spiral ride a night ride, then anyone who finds that alone insufficiently mad can warm up with a quick lap of the M25 during the preceding day.

See what I did there ? This ride doesn't seem so crazy now, does it ?
-

I may have fucked this up...
But tweaked it to avoid swiss cottage gyratory which is no fun at the start of a ride and fuck all fun after 100 miles. -

It seems to be doubling back on itself along Palermo Road near the start of your edit.

Ah, it must be a stray control point from my previous edit then.

Done: fixed borough boundary violation, we can't quite go as far south as regents park on that leg

I thought I might cock something up! So it's in each borough once and once only? I would still suggest avoiding Swiss Cottage, hitting Finchley road to the north and taking the North approch would be much better...
And that Google maps route goes exactly outside my house!
I can modify my commute tomorrow to find a decent route across the North of SC.

Yup. Blame yarklad for that.

So it's that little one way triangle just south of Swiss Cottage tube that's nasty ?

OK, good

Yeah, its 2 lanes into 5 into 2, and the eastbound traffic gets a green with the westbound. With the lights being at the top of a steep ramp so you can't take any speed in. Have a look on streetview, its grim!

I'm doing an overnight shift at work that night, this seems like an excellent way to prepare for it.

Off the top of my head, I think we want a brief stop about every 25 to 40 km. Does that sound ok ?
Stopping points should have plenty of room for bikes, a toilet (I can't be having with weeing behind bins at my time of life) and somewhere to get food and drink.
Candidates so far:
- 0km - The pub at Sidcup Place. Opens at 8am on a Saturday, so maybe we shouldn't start the ride until a few minutes after 8.
- 56km - San Remo Cafe in Northolt
- 154km - Shepherds Bush Road Tesco, has customer toilet.
- 160km - Chez Hairnetnic
- 173km - LMNH, unless it will be too crowded on a Saturday evening, dunno.

At 160k you literally go past my house, I'd be happy to offer tea/coffee/toilet facilities. It's a residential street off the main roads so plenty of room for bikes etc...
And I think I have a much nicer route through Swiss Cottage. I have at least a better one but I won't edit just yet until I know of a good route through to Primrose hill.

The current route goes through Brent twice. It looks like you need to stay a bit further North on the outer loop near Queensbury and Burnt Oak.
Edit: Alternatively, keep the outer loop and cross the Thames at Wandsworth Bridge and push the inner loop further South so you can go straight up the Fulham Rd to collect Kensington and Chelsea, and Westminster then a really tight loop through the Southernmost part of Camden, Islington and Hackney, quickly into Tower Hamlets and finish anywhere in the City.
